16 - The U.S.A. in Bible Prophecy

"Then I saw (another) beast coming up out of the earth.  He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon."  

Revelation 13:11.

Daniel records beasts or "kingdoms" arising from "the great sea." Seas, in prophecy, represent "peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues." So "coming up out of the earth" would suggest a country coming up out of a comparatively unoccupied territory.   Daniel 7:2; Revelation 17:15.

The animal with two horns symbolizes the United States, innocent like a lamb. Identifying marks are that this nation would rise to power in a comparatively unoccupied territory around A.D. 1798, at the end of the 1260-year prophecy. What nation of the New World was in 1798 rising into power? The United States of America was seen "coming up out of the earth"--the nation must rise in territory that had previously been largely unoccupied.

"He had two horns like a lamb." He "spoke like a dragon. He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived."  This pictures what we are seeing today.  The papacy received its "deadly wound" in 1798 after ruling 1260 years.  In 1798 the papacy was dissolved by French General Bethier, under Napoleon. Many thought that the Papacy was forever finished.  Today, however, its deadly wound is now healed just as the Bible predicted.  Revelation 13:11-14.

He spoke "as a dragon" having "all the power of the first beast." He "causes the earth and them that live on the earth to worship the first beast." "He says to them that dwell on the earth that they should make an image to the beast."  As of the writing of this book, this part of the prophecy is yet to be fulfilled completely. Nations "speak" through their legal system--through the making of laws.

The United States of America has been known as the home of the brave and the land of the free.  The United States of America has been known as a country offering both religious freedom and civil freedom.  The time will come, however,  when the United States will speak like a dragon, forcing everyone to either honor Sunday, the commandment of the papacy, or face a variety of punishments including prison, fines, and, or, death.  This seems impossible today but it is not only possible-- it will happen!
